Clemson University
Before attending Clemson University, I went to a small catholic college in Massachusetts. Although I was very involved in their student life as an orientation leader, class senator, and was involved in off campus community service, it unfortunately did not offer any type of public health or medical humanities program that I ultimately decided I wanted to pursue my sophomore year. However, in Spring of 2021, I discovered Clemson’s Spanish Language and International Health (LI&H) program. The LI&H Program was the perfect combination of studying Spanish and the Health Sciences that I was searching for, and I transferred to Clemson the following Fall semester.
Now a Senior at Clemson graduating In May of 2024 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Spanish Language and International Health, I aspire to work in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries and am looking forward towards what the future holds. In addition to work in the United States, I am open to exploring the world and aspire to be based in Europe as a part of my career.
I have a wide set of skills running from social media management, healthcare marketing, and experience researching patient advocacy groups for rare neuromuscular diseases. The healthcare marketing internship was completed in Seville, Spain in the Spring of 2023. While in Spain, I completed an 135 hour internship in addition to having the opportunity to continue my Clemson major requirements. Studying abroad in Seville has been a highlight of my collegiate career and has also broadened my horizons and helped me discover what I want my future to look like.
My studies in Seville, Spain and Clemson University have taught me about the Spanish language, the Biological Sciences, and offers courses that combine the two disciplines. Spanish for Health Professionals was my favorite course at Clemson, but also a great example of a topic that combined the two disciplines into a class. In combination with my studies and internship experiences, the two have provided me with knowledge and experiences that have inspired my path to pursue a career that intertwines my interests of business, the sciences, and the humanities.
