During my collegiate career at Clemson I have taken courses in Spanish, Culture & Literacy, and Health Sciences. Below you will find important works I produced during my collegiate career that highlight my skills gained from taking Linguistics, Health Science, and Spanish. I have also taken numerous health administrative-related courses as well that I loved learning about!

HEALTH SCIENCE COURSEWORK 

 

  • Fall 2021: 

HLTH 2020: INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC HEALTH 

  • This course examines the forces that have influenced current health delivery systems, health practices, and trends. It introduces the population and public health theories and models, as well as general systems theory.


 

  • Spring 2022:

HLTH 2980: HUMAN HEALTH AND DISEASE 

  • This course serves as an overview of the behavioral, biological and psycho-social factors associated with major human diseases and conditions. It further places an emphasis on the best health practices.

 

HTLH 2400: DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH BEAHVIOR 

  • This course analyzes the health behaviors based on psychological, social, cultural, and environmental factors and introduces health behavior theories.


 

  • Fall 2022: 

HLTH 3800: EPIDEMIOLOGY

  • This course introduces epidemiological principles and methods used in the study of the origin, distribution, and control of disease.

 

HLTH 4700: GLOBAL HEALTH 

  • This course global health and how public health work is conducted internationally. The course introduces the assessment of international health needs and designing, implementing, managing, and evaluating public health programs in international settings.


 

  • Fall 2023 

HLTH 3610: INTRODUCTION TO HELTH CARE ECONOMICS 

  • Introductory course in which students learn the basic economics of the institutions comprising the health-care industry. Topics include the underlying supply, demand, and institutional factors impacting health-care availability and cost of health care.

 

HLTH 4400: MANAGING HEALTH SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS 

  • Provides the conceptual and theoretical foundation of management and organizational theory of health service organizations. Focuses on the role of health services managers and how they modify and maintain organizations


 

  • Spring 2024 

HLTH 4780: HEALTH POLICY ETHICS AND LAW 

  • Critical examination of the legal and ethical dimensions of public health policy formation and change and how legal, ethical, and policy considerations influence health services administration and delivery.

HLTH 4600: HEALTH INFO SYSTEMS 

  • Focuses on the application of information systems to patient care and management support systems. Provides a general understanding of how the information needs of health professionals and health service organizations can be met through the proper acquisition, storage, analysis, retrieval, and presentation of data.

SPAN 3150: SPANISH FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS 

-Medical concepts and terminology in Spanish; designed for students who plan to work in professions related to public health care. 

 

  • Spring 2022:

SPAN 4180: TECHNICAL SPANISH HEALTH MANAGEMENT 

​

-Technical health communication course in Spanish with emphasis on managerial and business aspects of the international health industry. 

 

  • Fall 2022: 

SPAN 4190 HEALTH & HISPANIC COMMUNITY 

- Study of cultural aspects of health and health services in Hispanic populations. Taught in Spanish.

 

  • Spring 2023 

SPAN 4070: HISPANIC FILM 

​

Films are “read” as texts that mirror Hispanic society. Besides learning about cinematographic techniques in Spanish, topics include comparative analysis of film and literature, film as propaganda, film as “blockbuster,” and the cinematic depiction of social, cultural, and historical realities of Hispanic nations.

SPAN 3070: THE HISPANIC WORLD: SPAIN

- Introduction to the significant aspects of the culture of Spain from its origins to the present. Emphasizes the artistic, social, historical, political, and contemporary issues of the Iberian Peninsula.

SPAN 3160: SPANISH FOR

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS 

- Introduction to commercial Spanish; study of the spoken and written language, protocol, and cultural environment of the Spanish-speaking business world. Business vocabulary, basic business and cultural concepts, and situational practice. Reading and analysis of commercial texts.

SPAN 4110: ADVANCE SPANISH OCNVERSATION & COMPOSITION

- Emphasis on greater fluency and sophistication in oral and written expression.

  • This course is taught in Spanish and  studies cultural aspects of health and health services in Hispanic populations.A fantastic class to learn more about the impacts of health on communities outside of the U.S.
